Requirements for Out of State and International Drivers
Thank you for your interest in HOURCAR! As part of our application process, we are required to verify the driving history of all HOURCAR applicants.
Driver’s Licenses from Other States
We are able to process most driving records from most U.S. states automatically. However, if your driving record is held in a non-participating state, you will need to contact the motor vehicle records department directly to obtain your record.
HOURCAR is currently unable to retrieve driving records from the following states: California, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Virginia and Washington. If you hold a driver’s license from one of these states, click here for detailed instructions for obtaining a copy of your driving record.
Foreign Driver’s Licenses
If you have a foreign driver’s license, we will need you to provide documentation from your country regarding your driving history. If you have an International Driving Permit issued by your country, this can stand alone as your driving history record. Please scan it (or take a picture of it) and save it as a .pdf file and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax a copy to 651-221-9831. Please also include a scan or copy of your valid driver’s license.
If you have a foreign driver’s license but do not have an International Driving Permit, we will need documentation of your driving history from your home country. Please follow the links below to retrieve this information.
Please note that the instructions provided are based on records we have received in the past and may not be applicable to every region of your country. If this is the case or your country is not included in the list , we suggest contacting the agency that issued your license so they can better direct you on how to obtain this information.
