Celebrating 20 Years With HOURCAR & 3 Years With EV Spot Network
In 2025, HOURCAR celebrates 20 years of fulfilling its mission to “connect our community with convenient, equitable, and sustainable multimodal transportation.”
In May 2005, the Neighborhood Energy Connection launched a new mobility service in the Twin Cities called “hOurCar”.
In June 2017, HOURCAR spun off from its former parent company to become its own nonprofit organization.
Since then, the organization has seen tremendous expansion and growth of its services.
In May 2022, HOURCAR officially launched Evie Carshare, America’s first all-electric carshare service powered by 100% renewable energy, in partnership with the cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and Xcel Energy.
Over the past 20 years, HOURCAR has grown to become the largest nonprofit carshare providerin the United States. HOURCAR continues to find new ways to fulfill its mission, and more community members than ever use our services as clean and flexible transportation options.
